British Columbia road network update

November 24, 2006

On behalf of the Canadian Council on Geomatics (CCOG), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is pleased to announce the second release of the British Columbia portion of National Road Network (NRN). The update was produced by and carried out in the framework of a maintenance agreement between NRCan and the Integrated Land Management Bureau (ILMB) of the Government of British Columbia.

This GeoBase NRN release is the first update for this dataset, and it incorporates several thousand geometry and attribute changes from all across British Columbia.

The release files were produced by the ILMB's Base Mapping and Geomatics Services Branch (BMGS) in consultation with the Centre for Topographic Information - Sherbrooke. The underlying road network data is continuously maintained through partnerships with private companies and increasingly, with local governments as well.

Data Change Management (DCM) files between the 2005-03 and 2006-11 releases are also provided for this dataset.

All supporting documentation for NRN Data Change Management can be found within the following NRN GeoBase documents:

  • National Vector Data Identification Rules [pdf 61 KB]
